Do You Need Help Communicating with Your Employer?
If you are facing a disciplinary action at work or need help creating a disclosure strategy and requesting accommodations, advocacy services can bridge the gap between you and your employer.
Services are customized depending upon your needs and can include:
- In-person or telephone consultations with your employer to explain how Asperger’s Syndrome or NLD impacts your performance
- Development of strategies and accommodation requests to address problem areas
- Coaching to enhance your communication and/or organizational effectiveness
- Individual consultation to help you decide whether formal disclosure is the best option, and if so, to help you create a solution-focused disclosure strategy
Navigating the neurotypical workplace can be confusing and intimidating! As your advocate, I draw on more than 20 years of business experience (which included hiring and managing people at all levels) to assist you in being successful.

• After receiving a verbal job offer, Dan told his would-be manager that he has Asperger’s Syndrome. He briefly mentioned his difficulty with time management and prioritizing, and his supervisor agreed to help Dan stay on track and not take social gaffes personally.
• Instead of allowing performance issues to escalate into disciplinary action, Allan retained me to meet with his supervisors to explain accommodation requests and answer questions about how to help him be successful on the job.
• When Todd contacted me he had been given a formal warning with two weeks to improve. We figured out what his accommodation needs were and how to present them to his human resources manager and supervisor. Several months later Todd is still employed with the company in a new position that utilizes his technical skills.
