Unlike traditional job search seminars, the College to Career: Asperger’s Syndrome & NLD Employment Intensive demystifies what it takes to get hired into the neurotypical workplace.

  • Group meetings provide detailed, step-by-step instruction on everything from career research to resume writing, networking and interviewing.
  • Weekly assignments provide hands-on experience that builds skills and confidence.
  • Weekly, one-hour coaching sessions offer individualized assistance and support.

Topics include: networking for the not-so-socially savvy; thinking like an employer; marketing yourself without lying; writing powerful resumes; decoding the language of job postings; managing anxiety; establishing a network; creating an effective job search plan and staying motivated. A comprehensive section on interviewing explains what to expect; greeting the interviewer, preparing to answer common questions; conveying enthusiasm with words and body language; salary negotiation; and much more.

At the conclusion of this 8-week program, participants will:

  • Identify specific jobs for which they are qualified
  • Complete a personal profile of talents, skills and challenges
  • Compose a resume and cover letter
  • Conduct an informational interview
  • Establish a personal network
  • Develop a 30-second elevator speech
  • Create a LinkedIn profile
  • Learn how to answer common interview questions
  • Understand disclosure and accommodations
  • Develop a realistic job search plan
